OFPC Recruitment Meeting Summary

The OFPC Recruitment meeting was held at Kaiser Permanente's Franklin Building on May 27, 2009. The meeting was designed as an informational and Q & A session for anyone interested in sitting on the policy council.

Susan Shelton, manager of the Community Housing Services Division, Department of Human Services at the City of Oakland, opened the meeting with a review of the OFPC's history.

Eric Holt-Gimenez, Executive Director of Food First, followed Ms. Shelton's presentation with an explanation of the council's mission and goals, and Heather Wooten of Public Health Law and Policy concluded by providing a summary of the tools and information already available to the OFPC.

Alethea Harper, coordinator of the OFPC, explained membership requirements, the membership application, and the member selection process, which was followed by a question and answer session.
